Who?

There are apparently quite a few Ciarans in the world, and even another CiaranG, who luckily only seems to sign up for accounts on services I am not interested in. But there is surely only one Ciaran Gultnieks, and it’s me.

These are my random writings, and as such I reserve the right to lurch from topic to topic, and also to talk utter shite. Frankly, it’s all more for my benefit than anyone else’s, but if you find something of interest here then good for you. Contact details are below.

    Hi,

    I just wanted to thank you for your work and contribution to the Hardwar PC Game. Bought it from Asda in ’98 for £10. That £10 gave me at least 4/5 years of fun. Thanks for your hard work and effort. I’m 22 now and a lot of things have changed ;) .

    Hi Ciaran,

    writing from Switzerland to tell you how cool it is to discover who’s behind Hardwar, that game I used to play so much. The Designers Republic and Warp Records were the real hype back then, and Hardwar packed everything I could dream of seeing in a video game.

    It’s good to see that you like old Mercedes Benz and fried flowers… to put a human face behind the hazy and hostile environment of Misplaced Optimism!

    Hello from Canada, I’m sure you don’t remember me. My first job was as Production Exec for Activision in Reading. I’d come up to Leeds every week and basically game test Fighter Bomber with yourself, Andy Craven, Ian something or other…. Happy Days :)

    Stayed in the industry for a while, then went back to uni, learned Unix/C++ and the rest as they say is history. Was always blown away by your code, I name drop you when asked about the best coders I’d ever worked with (though it was all way above me at the time!)

    Anyway, hope you’re world is a happy one :) Whatever happened to Andy Craven anyway? !
