I didn't have a problem with the evil knievel thing. Actually it never crossed my mind throughout the book. Hope that helps..... By the way, do you think Vilia truly won and someone from her blood line would eventually become laird of kinveil. I know she died believing she had won, but at the end of the book kinveil's future was left up in the air. Wouldn't it be disappointing Vilia went through all that trouble only for her grandchildren to ignore it or worse; sell it. What do you think?

Wow. I'm stunned that there's someone else in the word who's read that book! Thanks for brightening up my day. (By the way, you didn't mention whether or not you suffered from the Evil Knievel problem, I would be interested to know)

i loved a dark and distant shore. Particularly the heroine. She seemed so realistic, but i think she went through too much for one person and i didn't like the way every character in the book always blamed her for their problems, still she deserved to win

In total agreement on the Lynda La Plante books - most seem 'good' stories but the writing leaves me a little cold.
You must take any books from here whenever.
My Dad always kept a list of everything he read (in a little book, wish I had it, what an interesting record it could have been) and I think he put odd comments. And they could have been very odd comments. You are quite like him in many ways dear son.

Thanks Mr C,

I've added Three Men in a Boat and Beau Geste to my fiction/holiday/retirement pile reading list...

Perhaps I should make more of an effort to open up with a similar review...

You are welcome to take from the bookshelves any time you visit.
