Each tree needs only the light from one torch. The torches are next to the trees (not diagonally) so other trees can't block the light. The easiest way to set this up is make a 'plus sign' shape, with a torch in the middle and four trees around the outside. Then repeat this shape across the floor, packed together as tightly as possible.
